Kathy McClain received much of her education as a single mom, working days and attending school at night.

Kathy has always worked as an adult, and she’s combined her practical work experience with additional education to gain better jobs with greater responsibility. Kathy will retire from her current job in January, 2010, and will have even more time to devote to community and legislative activities.

Legislative experience . . .

Kathy McClain was first elected to the Nevada State Legislature in 1998. She successfully stood for re-election to her District 15 seat every two years since then. She has served in six regular and nine special sessions of the legislature.

While her principal focus has been issues affecting veterans and seniors, Kathy has wide committee and leadership experience. During the periods between legislative sessions Kathy has accepted appointment to interim committees designed to study issues in depth and make recommendations to the entire legislature.

• Elected in 1998, served in 1999 Legislative Session
• Kathy’s principal issues in 1999: domestic violence, textbooks for schools, sound walls along US95, and assistance for deaf children

• Kathy’s principal issues in 2001: Senior Rx, domestic violence, local government authority to address neighborhood blight, workplace domestic violence, school textbooks for all classrooms, local government control for halfway houses, lottery, vehicle registration
